Halo 4 Review

Halo 4 is a huge step forward in the Halo series. It has been a long time since we've seen Master Chief in the Halo Universe. Halo 4 is action packed and full of thrilling surprises.

CAMPAIGN: Spoilers Ahead. This time around Chief is facing a new enemy, the Didact. After being tricked into releasing him, Chief faces this new and more challenging enemy, but the Forerunner isn't Chief's only problem. The Covenant are at war with the Humans again, a weak commander of the UNSC Infinity has problems with the Chief, Cortana is going rampant, and on a side note Halsey is in custody.

The Chief is thrown through twists and turns throughout the story. Halo 4 has an epic campaign that leaves you wanting more. Every second was awesome, from storming through different environments guns a-blazing, or flying along a ship with epic music blaring, the Campaign is simply amazing, and the ending is great.

SPARTAN OPS: This is something new 343 is taking. Every weak on Monday, a new episode is released containing 5 missions that take place 6 months after the events of Halo 4. Each episode takes about half an hour to an hour to play through, and they are neat editions. The story follows a Spartan team called Crimson. Not all episodes are released yet so check back for a full review of Season 1 Spartan Ops.

MULTIPLAYER: This is the real killer in Halo 4. Though it borrows a little from Call of Duty, it has it's own fresh Halo take on it that makes it great. I've always been a Halo fan, and I haven't loved Halo multiplayer like this since Halo 3. The armor abilities range from the original jet pack, to Promethean vision allowing you to see through walls or a small shield that isn't as strong as armor lock, but is certainly help full in many situations. There are the classic halo modes of Slayer, Team Slayer, Capture the Flag, but they've also added Infection and a few others that make Halo 4 sweet.

The new loadout system also works well. You simply choose from the starting weapons, you're armor ability, grenades, a few perks, and your ready to fight. It doesn't overwhelm you or make you feel weak if you aren't ranked up, and it forms a simple classification system to customize to your play-style. Also the armor variations are incredible, the amount of options and different set ups are amazing.

The maps in multiplayer also contribute to what makes it so amazing. There is like 9 or 10 (that's unprofessional), and they each have good feels to it. Small maps like Haven pit you right in the action makes for some good one on one or small teams. Then larger maps like the remake of Valhalla: Ragnarok are incredible for big team battles. The vehicles are great, they don't feel overpowered, and a giant walking mech is pretty BA.

EVERYTHING ELSE: I can't make this category with many other games, but Halo is a perfect exception. Forge world, game editor, theater mode, they make this game incredible. The fact that is that Halo 4, as well as almost all the Halo games, let's you create tons of different game modes and minigames. Demolition Derby, Duck Hunt, Jenga, and hundreds of possibilities make this game amazing seeing you could build anything.

Halo 4 is amazing (how many times have I said amazing by now?). I never even talked about the graphics, or the audio, or simply how fun it is to screw around with the sticky detonator. I give this game: 10/10.
